Nine Inch Nails (NIN)
The objective of this project was to create a poster for Ghosts I-IV, the sixth studio album by Nine Inch Nails (NIN), an American industrial rock band formed by Trent Reznor in 1988. Reznor described the album as a ‘soundtrack for daydreams,’ focusing on a visual perspective of sound and texture. To connect with the music, I visualized my own interpretation while listening, with dominant themes of fear and mystery emerging. The album cover, derived from the poster, follows an abstract direction.
I used strong visuals from an original photograph and enhanced them for the cover. One challenge was taking photographs in a cemetery at night, which was both exciting and a little eerie, as I felt like the ghosts were watching me. My goal was to capture the feelings the music evokes—fear and creepiness—resulting in a clear and concise final piece.
